Long Time No Update

It’s been ages since I updated, so this post is going to be a series of mini updates, to bring you all up to speed.

Conversations with my mother (last night)
*My mobile rings, I answer*
Ella: Hi mum, what’s up?
Mum: Hey hun, quick question. You know my brown skirt?
Ella: Yeah…(I have no idea what she’s talking about)
Mum: Can I wear that with a green top?
Ella: Brown and Green? Why not? Trees do it.
Mum: You’re right! And if it works for trees, then it will work for me!
Ella: Uh huh…
Mum: That was it. Talk to you later!
*Mum hangs up*

God I love that woman.

Conversations with my Ex (about an hour ago)
*Mobile rings*
Ella: Hi
Ex: Hey, how are you doin?
Ella: Not bad, how are you?
Ex: Really good, I’m going on a date this weekend. She’s apparently really hot (blah blah blah)
Ella: Wow, good for you! I hope you have fun!
*Bus drives past (would I fit under it?)*
Ella: I can hardly hear you – gotta go! Bye!
*Hang Up*
Ella to random pigeon on the street: WTF? Who DOES that!?!

Weekend Update
Last weekend I went to Sussex Inlet with some friends, had an awesome weekend! Best I’ve had in a LONG time.
We got there on Saturday morning, went to the beach (5 min walk from the front door!) and swam, laid in the sun and went back to the cabin. We set up the picnic table under some trees and ate and drank beer and chatted and laughed. I drove my car onto the grass and we hooked an ipod up through the stereo. Listened to music and just relaxed! We had a BBQ for dinner and sat on a picnic rug near the BBQ, drinking and talking and laughing – had awesome steak for dinner (well done everyone involved – which was really everyone but me)
Watched the cricket, and then watched the tri-nations and I found myself getting quite involved in the final minutes.
Sunday, woke up and had bacon and eggs – packed up and procrastinated before we left. Stopped in Berry for lunch and then drove back to Sydney. I wish we’d organised to stay longer. I’d love to do it again sometime soon!

I’ll post some weekend pictures when I get them (ahem! coughChriscough)

To the others that were there last weekend, this picture will speak volumes!

Next weekend
I’ve got a work function on Saturday; it’s 3 hours from Sydney! How annoying. I’m driving up with Chris from work (or he’s driving up and I’ll just make a general nuisance of myself)

I’m looking forward to it. The drive there and back will be fun and we’re staying in Forster that night and driving back on Sunday – so we’ll go out and partake in general merriment.

Medical Updates
I went to the doctor again; I’ve been every week for a month now! And I’m clear! No more infection (or reflection as I used to say) no need for more antibiotics and more importantly – no surgery! WOOT!

Ok peeps, that’s all for me!

Weekend Updates

Well,

It’s been one hell of a weekend!

Friday night we said goodbye to Phil – the original and the best. Chris, Jess, Phil and I headed to Jackson’s after work and met up with Chris’ brothers and some of their mates – all decent blokes bar 1. But a good group on the whole.

From there we stumbled to Macca’s (I know – it makes me ill just thinking about it!) and from there whinged all the way to the 3 Wise Monkeys. Jess and I checked out a couple of shops on the way, think we freaked Chris out when we both walked into a lingerie place :)

The band started but it wasn’t that fantastic, so Chris, Jess, Phil and I (CJP&I) went to the Spanish place next door. Chris and Jess buggered off because Chris was ‘sick’ (P.S – I later found out he has an ear infection and IS actually sick, so I feel a little bad about calling him a Mary after he left) and that’s when things got interesting!

Phil and I chatted for about an hour and I found out so much that I didn’t know! For example, he’s got a girlfriend back home that has a young daughter! I told him I felt so slack for never even asking – and then spent 10 mins trying to explain what ‘feeling slack’ means. Bloody Europeans!

You may remember a few posts back, the top 5 things to do before you die? That conversation was with Phil and in that conversation, we chatted about other things, like the top 5 things he wanted to do/see before he left Sydney. He told me 4, but wouldn’t tell me the 5th. I forgot until Friday night when he said, so do you still want to know what my 5th is? I said yea and he said – it’s to see your tattoo before I leave. So, there we were, hiding behind a slot machine, me trying not to flash too much while I showed him my tatt. He seemed very impressed. It was shortly after this that I decided to head home.

More weekend updates later.

P.S – NONE of this would have happened if SOMEONE had let me know they still wanted to go out on Friday night!

FILM THREAT'S FRIGID 50: THE COLDEST PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD 2005

Taken from

http://filmthreat.com/index.php?section=features&Id=1643

The recent blast of hot air blowing in from Tinseltown has been too much to bear, as it always is this time of year. Yes, it’s butt-kissing season once again, and that means outlets like Entertainment Weekly and Premiere have puckered up and released their annual power lists. This drooling adoration for Hollywood's elite is shameless, the lists themselves so pointless and uninspired that they have the potential to turn even readers who are just skimming through them to stone – that is, if anyone reads them at all.

So, in order to help stifle all of that blistering hot air, we present to you our annual FRIGID 50, a top 50 list of the coldest, least powerful people in Hollywood. In the past, The Frigid 50 has called out show business dignitaries such as Michael Moore, Jack Valenti, Russell Crowe, Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Robin Williams for their questionable status, if not complete uselessness, as power players. Yes, it’s just another meaningless list, but we like to think that this one echoes the true thoughts and feelings of real people, rather than the opinion of some editor on high with a passion for brown nosing. This is what everyone really thinks about these same people, many of whom show up every year on these so-called “power lists.”

So bundle up and grab your snowblower because it’s about to get real cold in here. Film Threat presents to you The FRIGID 50: The Coldest People in Hollywood 2005!

One entry that made me laugh was:

13. Paris Hilton
Never knew Paris Hilton was a comedian, did you? Neither did we. Not until audiences paid hard earned money to laugh her off the screen in House of Wax.
Anti-Freeze: More home porn! We’re tired of having to look at Rick Salomon.

That will be the first and last time Paris will ever be described as frigid!! Bah-Zing!

Grocery Shopping On Your Own

Living on my own has had its ups and down, one of the most prominent I’ve noticed is grocery shopping.

I hate shopping; anyone who knows me at all will know this. If I need something, I work out what I need and where I can get it. I walk in, I make my purchase and I walk out. That’s it. I don’t want to dally, I don’t want to know if it comes in different colours or if it’s available with a tassel and I don’t want to check other places too see if I can get the exact same thing.

The first thing I do when I get to a new area is go to the grocery store and walk around it for half an hour. I don’t buy anything – I just figure out where everything is. Then, when I write my shopping list, I work out what I need to last me the month, and write it in order of where everything is. I walk in, walk down each isle once and (pay then) walk out. This I have no problems doing on my own – it’s getting the stuff from my car to my kitchen that’s giving me problems. I did the shopping for the month last night and rather than the standard one trip from the car with 2 people, it took me 4 trips to get everything in – and I was exhausted! It was about trip 2 that I realised that I probably can’t do everything on my own.

My other problem is light bulbs. My apartment is really old, but the interiors been re-done and it’s gorgeous. They’ve kept the original high ceilings and while it’s nice to have such a spacious area, it mean that I can’t change light globes on my own. I’m short, I’ll admit that, but it means that even standing on the coffee table I can’t reach the lights in the living room! Last time the globes burst, I borrowed Hayley’s (woman downstairs) husband and he changed them for me, but I can’t keep doing that. I’m now down to 1 globe. Damn my stubborn-ness!

There are up’s however, I get to do what I want to do, eat when and what I want to, invite people over and say “why don’t you just stay the night” (as I did on Sunday night) and not have to a) make sure it’s ok with someone else and b) listen to them harp on about having to get up for work in the morning. I also get to pick up on my hobbies that I never got to do because I was accused of trying to ‘get away’ from someone and not ‘making time’.

I also get to buy Tim Tams when I’m shopping and still have them there in a week!

Pfft, yeah right

Wednesday Update

Well, I just got back from the doc and she said my blood test came back positive for infection. She’s given me antibiotics to take for 7 days and then get re-tested on Thursday next week.

I’m surprisingly ok with all this. I’m feeling fine and really not worried. I’ve kinda got a ‘this only happens to other people’ mentality. If it was serious I’d be feeling sick like I was last week.

P.S – Jenny’s going to quit her crappity job and finally have some free time!

Tiny high 5 Jen!

Weekend Updates

Weekend updates

Yo peeps!

I know it’s been awhile since I last posted, but I promise to up my game this week! P.S – I got married yesterday!

Thursday night, I was up all night feeling very sorry for myself, so took Friday off and went to the docs. Was told that they may just need to adjust my iron suppliments, or I may have an infection that’s spreading to my kidneys. Infection in kidney’s = operation. What a load of bollocks. I find out Wednesday.

Saturday afternoon, helped Luke and Matt baby-sit their nieces, I want to kidnap them and take them home! They’re 8 and 9 and pretty typical of their age. They latched on to me pretty early in the afternoon and got really mad at Luke when we had to go cause he was taking me away and why couldn’t I stay over? Matt made the offhand comment that I couldn’t sleep over cause I was having a sleep over with Luke and then spent the next 10 mins trying to explain was adults do at a sleep over while keeping it G – rated ;)

Sunday I went to a music festival in Newtown with Jenny and Chiswick. We started from my place (which is 20 mins from Newtown) but decided we were going to stop at ever pub along the way, it didn’t matter what side of the road it was on, or if we accidentally spotted it down another street. It took us 4 hours to complete this 20 min trip. At the festival, and very drunk, Chis and I decided we were going to get married while Jenny was getting a tattoo. It was a whirlwind romance but fingers crossed!

Here's hubby and I at the festival

Being the drunken mess that I was, I texted the ex with the following “Oh my God! I just got engaged and we’re getting married now!” he called 3 nano-seconds later a little shaken up and threatening to come down to the music festival because I obviously needed looking after – pfft!

Headed back to my place and the hubby went home (perfect marriage or what!) and Jenny passed out on the lounge. I got bored so gave her a back tatt with liquid eyeliner the proceeded to fall asleep next to her, only to wake up with liquid eyeliner on my shoulder – Karma’s good! Made dinner and we sat up til 1.00 watching Muriel’s wedding (You’re terrible Muriel!) and then went to bed.

Made for an awesome weekend – I’ll update you with my results on Wednesday! How exciting, a test! I hope I won!

I’ve decided I have too much crap in my handbag – and I have no idea where the half of this stuff came from, or what I was thinking when I put it in there, so I’ve decided to compose an inventory and let you all in on the wonderful world that is…a girls handbag!

Late Night Calls

Yesterday afternoon, I was talking to my ex on the phone and he accidentally let slip that he’d gone out for a mutual friend’s birthday last Friday night that I wasn’t invited to. When we were together, there was always the 5 of us that would go out as a group every weekend and most nights during the week. There was the ex and I, Adam and Bea and Mark.

Since we split up – I haven’t spoken to Adam or Bea but I’ve seen Mark a few times and we still talk often. It was Mark’s birthday the other week and apparently they all went out (near where I live!) and I wasn’t invited. I got the $hits, and rightly so I think. I had a bit of a yell at the ex and then hung up.

We then spent the next few hours texting each other – mine were full of the f word J

He came over last night to collect some money to give to the smash repairer and I was still cranky from the phone conversation and was really cold to him. He asked what was wrong and I told him I was still angry because of the whole being snubbed thing and he just blew it off – so I stormed inside and had a cigarette and we had a text fight. We eventually gave up at about 8 that night but at 1.00 this morning he msg’d me and asked if I was away. I said yes and he was at my front door!

He tried to pull some crap about how he didn’t think I’d want to go but I wasn’t interested. He didn’t leave til 2 this morning so now I’m tired!

Sorry about the angsty post – I’ll try and get something a little funnier up later.
